Both Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor have taken a liking to off-beat projects. And now, both the stars are coming together for an interesting slice-of-life film to be helmed by R Balki.
The director and Kapoor met for a lengthy narration, after which the actress approved of the script. "It was an immediate go-ahead from the actress after Balki narrated it to her. She loves the script and will kick off shooting next year," an insider told Mumbai Mirror.
The as-yet-untitled project, if all falls into place, will be Kapoor and Kumar's second film together after Thank You. Balki's project is expected to feature Amitabh Bachchan in a special appearance and Ilayaraaja as the music director.
Let's take a look at how both the stars (Kapoor and Kumar) are taking a different route in terms content and roles in films.
The leading lady impressed all with a measured performance in Neerja, which told the story of braveheart Neerja Bhanot in the most perfect possible. Before taking up the Ram Madhvani project, Kapoor had played all kinds of parts but was never given the opportunity to lead from the front.
Kumar's filmography was loaded with commercial entertainers until Airlift came by. He did do a Housefull 3, but quickly returned to celluloid as a righteous naval officer in Rustom and won everyone over.
He has three major releases in 2017, all of which boast of off-beat content and are very different from one another in look and feel. Jolly LLB 2, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and 2.0 are Kumar's upcoming projects.
