Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha's love story in Vipul Amrutlal Shah's "Namastey England" has been put on hold again. This time it's for financial reasons.
"It's a brilliant script but the story demands a lot of prep and the film has to be lavishly mounted. Since this takes time, Vipul has decided to put the film on hold while he arranges the finances," a source told Mumbai Mirror.
A DNA report claimed that Sonakshi will be seen playing the "Housefull 3" star's on-screen wife and Kingfisher calendar girl Aisha Sharma his love interest.
While filmmaker gathers funds for the projects, his leading cast has moved on to other films. Sonakshi is in Bangkok for "Force 2," after which she takes up "Noor" and "Ittefaq" a little later in the year. Akshay, meanwhile, has given a chunk of his dates to "Jolly LLB 2."
However, Vipul had earlier denied of any delay, informing the press that the script had been locked and that the film will roll in August. "We have locked the script for 'Namastey England' and we plan to go on floors in August 2016. Akshay Kumar will essay the character of a guy from Punjab. We plan to wrap up the shoot for the film by December 2016," Catch News quoted him as saying.
Akshay and Sonakshi have together featured in four films – "Rowdy Rathore," "Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty," "Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara" and "Joker."
