Akshay Kumar has confirmed signing "Jolly LLB 2." The actor is thrilled about the sequel as he gets to play a lawyer in it, a role he hasn't experimented with before. He will also be seen romancing a leading lady he hasn't worked with before. So, there's a lot of newness waiting for the superstar.
Huma Qureshi was pulled on board two weeks ago after she cleared the look test, Mumbai Mirror reported. "Akshay really liked the script and Huma came on board a fortnight ago after she cleared a look test," a source told the leading daily.
What's interesting to note is that it's not just the central cast that is being replaced. Last year, there was a strong buzz that Paresh Rawal may be signed on to fill in Boman Irani's shoes. As the sequel will have a new premise, the makers believed that the entire line-up needs to be altered, Bollywood Hungama had reported.
Saurabh Shukla and Arshad Warsi will make special appearances in the Akshay-Huma starrer. In the first instalment, Saurabh and Arshad had essayed the roles of a judge and a lawyer, respectively.
To be helmed by Subhash Kapoor, the sequel kicks off on Aug. 25 with a 25-day schedule in Lucknow, after which the unit will head to Varanasi and then it will be wrapped up in Kashmir. The courtroom comedy drama film is scheduled to release in 2017.
Meanwhile, Akshay told Catch News: "'Jolly LLB 2' is a nice script and I quite liked it. I really liked the directors' (Subhash Kapoor) work and I have never played a lawyer's role ever. It is something that I am going to enjoy."
