The year 2012 seems to have started on a high note for actor Akshay Kumar with the box office success of his latest comedy flick "Housefull 2- The Dirty Dozen."
Akshay, who was once labeled as a "mega star," has not been able to produce any remarkable hit films for the last two years, except "Housefull"(2010) and "Desi Boyz"(2011). However, this time the 44-year-old actor may give a chance for Akshay to experience success again with his upcoming films.
Akshay started a new innings for his career early this year with "Housefull 2" which grossed around Rs. 180 crore at the Box Office. Interestingly, during his 21-years of stint in the industry, it will also mark his first film that crossed Rs. 100 crore at the Box Office.
On the other hand, one of his forthcoming films "Rowdy Rathore", a remake of Telugu film "Vikramarkudu," is already creating a lot of buzz in the industry.
Apart from this, for the first time, Akshay is sharing screen space with actress Sonakshi Sinha who was seen in one of the biggest hits of 2010. The speculation is that it might increase the potential for the upcoming film to hit the Box Office.
Considering these factors, the upcoming action film which is being directed by ace South Indian filmmaker Prabhu Deva seems to do well at the Box Office. The film will hit the screen on June 1, 2012.
Among his forthcoming movies, "Joker", "Khiladi 786" and "Once Upon a Time Again" are some of his ambitious projects.
The upcoming sci-fi fantasy adventure thriller film, "Joker," will be the first Bollywood film to be completely shot using 3D cameras and it will be released in both 3D as well as 2D. "Once Upon a Time Again" is a sequel to 2010 hit "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai."
The 44-year-old actor, who started his acting career in 1991, with "Saugandh" became famous for his performance in action films.
His "Khiladi" series which included "Khiladi" (1992), "Sabse Bada Khiladi" (1995), "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" (1996), "International Khiladi" (1999), and "Khiladi 420" (2000) is one of the famous and successful series in Bollywood.
Post 2000, he started doing romantic comedy films and some of his films like "Garam Masala" (2005), "Phir Hera Pheri" (2006), "Heyy Babyy"(2007), "Welcome" (2007), "Namaste London" (2007), "Singh is King" (2008) are among the biggest hits.
