Akshay Kumar, who will be seen playing a cameo role in "The Shaukeens" has some amazing twists to his character.
The actor will be playing himself in the film, although some negative elements have been added to his character, one of them being him an alcoholic.
However, it has now been understood that Kumar's character will be shown as a superstar who desperately wants to win a National award.
Director Abhishek Sharma of "Tere Bin Laden" fame told Bollywood Hungama: "It's actually very funny. Akshay Kumar plays Akshay Kumar. But he desperately wants to win the National Award. There is this huge conflict between him and his business manager (Cyrus Broacha cast very interestingly) who wants him to break box-office records instead. But Akshay is ready to do anything to bag the most respected award in the country."
The director further mentions that Kumar's various crazy means to reach his goal of winning the award is one of the highlights of the comedy entertainer. "It is madness like never seen before," promises Sharma.
"The Shaukeens" is the remake of the 1982 comedy film, directed by Basu Chatterjee with the same title. Lisa Haydon of "Queen" fame plays the female lead, and will be obsessed with the superstar.
The film essentially revolves around three oldies played by veteran actors Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra, who are out for some fun, but in doing so they land themselves in some hilarious situations.
"The Shaukeens" is touted to be a "coming-of-age" movie and is slated to hit the silver screens on 7 November.
Meanwhile, Kumar, who was last seen in "Entertainment", has several other projects in his kitty. He will next star in Neeraj Pandey's "Baby", "Gabbar", "Karan Johar's "Brothers", "Housefull 3" among others. The shooting of Johar's "Brothers" is currently going on along with Sidharth Malhotra.
