Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akshilesh Yadav dismissed Khadi and Village Industry minister Raja Ram Pandey for his sexist comments, reported Press Trust of India.
Pandey had reportedly commented that he would build smooth roads like the cheeks of Hema Malini and Madhuri Dixit and further added that the roads were undergoing 'a facial' referring to the construction process.
The comments have led to Pandey's ousting from his post. Akshilesh Yadav, who is already responsible for 61 departments, is said to have taken over the post.
BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak lashed out saying, "Such a statement is unwarranted from a person occupying an important and responsible post of a minister."
Pandey is a repeat offender. He had been accused of making similar indecent remarks in the past.
In February, Pandey went on to praise district magistrate of Sultanpur, K Dhanalakshmi's good looks, in a public speech.
"It is my privilege that I am the guardian minister of Sultanpur for the second time, and every time I get a chance to work with beautiful women DMs," the industry minister had said.
But Pandey dodged controversy saying he was admiring her just as he would for his own daughter.
Pandey is the third minister to be sacked from Akhilesh Yadav's cabinet after Vinod Kumar Singh in October 2012 and Raghuraj Pratap Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiyya, in February 2013.
Besides the sexist remarks, Pandey was also charged of corruption and receiving bribes for postings of officers.
