"Yennai Arindhaal", which was released last week, is making way for Dhanush's "Anegan", which is set to hit screens on Friday, 13 February.
"Anegan" is getting a fantastic response and big screens have now been given to Dhanush's movie, reported Behindwoods. But at some centres, both the movies are getting equal number of screens.
This comes as a surprise to trade analysts as Dhanush is yet to cement his name in the industry as an A-lister but is giving competition to a star like Ajith and snatching away some big screens from "Yennai Arindhaal".
Meanwhile, advance booking of "Anegan" has got good response from the audience. As a result, the Tamil movie is expected to do good business on the release day, given the response for the pre-booking of tickets.
"Anegan" is a romantic-thriller directed by KV Anand, who had earlier given hit movies like "Ayan" and "Ko". Dhanush, Amyra Dastur and Aishwarya Devan appear in the Tamil film, which is bankrolled by Kalpathi S Aghoram.
On the other hand, Ajith, Trisha Krishnan and Anushka Shetty starrer "Yennai Arindhaal", which got fantastic opening at box office, has done good business in Tamil Nadu and a few overseas centres.
In the opening weekend, the Tamil movie grossed ₹23.5 crore in Tamil Nadu and a total of ₹53.5 crore worldwide. The film is directed by Gautham Menon and produced by AM Rathnam.
