Ajith's Vedalam will celebrate its first anniversary on November 10. On this occasion, special shows of the Tamil movie are being held in a couple of theatres in Chennai.
Rohini Silver Screens is first to initiate the special show in Chennai on November 10. The original plan was to have a show at 6.30 pm. But the massive response to the pre-booking has prompted the exhibitor to add a few more shows to meet the demand. Now, it will have four shows in the day.
Meanwhile, a few theatres, including Vettri Theatres has followed suit by planning for special shows of Vedalam on the day of its first anniversary. However, more details are expected to be revealed in the next few days.
Considering the craze around the movie, it is now believed that distributors in association with theatre owners from other parts of Tamil Nadu are also expected to have special shows. Interestingly, the movie continues to generate craze in spite of its television premiere. Jaya TV had aired the movie on September 5.
Vedalam remains one of the biggest hits of Ajith at the box office. In fact, the movie was the biggest opener in Kollywood by minting Rs 15.5 crore on the first day, before Rajinikanth's Kabali pushed it down to the second place earlier this year by raking in Rs 21.5 crore.
It was the second reunion of Ajith and Siruthai Siva after Veeram. The movie, which was produced by AM Rathnam, was released for Deepavali and the movie went on to do record business despite Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu being affected by unprecedented massive floods.
