Ajith's "Vedalam" has done fantastic collection at the overseas box office in 17 days despite clashing with "Thoongaavanam", and has beaten the lifetime business record of Vijay's "Puli".

Released in 89 screens on 1 October, "Puli" has grossed 211,502 (Rs 1.37 crore) at the US box office in 24 days. Now, "Vedalam" was released in 71 screens in North America and has continued to do well in its third week. The movie has collected $287,911 (Rs 1.92 crore) at the US box office in 17 days and beaten the lifetime record of the Vijay starrer in the country.

"Vedalam" has done superb collection in Malaysia, where its business is almost double of the lifetime collection of "Puli". Released in 40 screens, the Ajith starrer has collected MYR2,347,391 (Rs 3.67 crore) at the Malaysia box office in 17 days. The Vijay starrer was released in 33 screens and has grossed MYR1,210,252 (Rs 1.85 crore) in the country in 17 days.

"Vedalam" was released in 52 screens in the UK and collected £162,523 (Rs 1.63 crore) at the UK box office in 10 days. The Ajith Kumar starrer has failed to beat the record of "Puli", which was released in 53 cinema halls and has collected £202,356 (Rs 2.01 crore) in the country in 24 days.

The Ajith starrer has failed to beat the records of "Puli" in Australia and Canada, where the latter has grossed US$207,762 (Rs 1.34 crore) and A$186,331 (Rs 88.45 lakh) in Canada and Australia respectively. The Ajith starrer has collected US$165,250 (Rs 1.10 crore) and $169,200 (Rs 81.26 lakh) respectively in Canada and Australia.

"Vedalam" has collected approximately a total of Rs 8.03 crore gross in these five international markets. The movie has shatter record of "Puli", which has collected Rs 7.45 crore in these countries.
