Lakshmi Menon has bagged an offer to play the role of Ajith's sister in his forthcoming movie, which is presently called "Thala 56". Earlier, the role was offered to Nithya Menen, who is gearing up for the release of "Ok Kanmani".
As per reports, Lakshmi Menon has sealed the deal and has signed "Thala 56". She will be playing Ajith's sister in the movie and is a key character along with Shruti Haasan, who will be seen romancing the "Mankatha" star.

Buzz says that Nithya Menen was offered the role but she refused to take up the project for reasons best known to her. There have been lots of reports on who would play Ajith's sister in "Thala 56" and many names including Bindu Madhavi was speculated. In the end, it is Lakshmi Menon, who has grabbed the offer.
Lakshmi Menon is one of the fast growing actresses in Kollywood today. She has been considered the best choice for low-budget films in the industry. Her notable movies are: "Sundarapandian", "Kumki", "Kutti Puli", "Pandianadu", "Jigarthanda" and recently "Komban". This is the first time that she will be working with an A-list star.
However, Lakshmi Menon has been playing female leads and her decision to play the secondary role has come as a surprise to many.
"Thala 56" is directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by AM Rathnam. The movie was launched on 9 April. The regular shooting will begin on 20th of this month.
