Producer J.Anbazhagan, who is also the MLA of Chepauk constituency, has evinced interest in producing "Mankatha 2" with Ajith and Vijay in the lead roles.
Ajith and Vijay are among the top leading stars of south Indian cinema. The duo has starred in the 1995-release "Rajavin Paarvayile" at the early stages of their career. Anbazhagan's production company Anbu Pictures has played a major role in the release of Jayam Ravi's much-delayed project "Aadhi Bhagavan" in 2013, reported Indiaglitz. The producer also reportedly offered to support Vijay's "Thalaivaa", which faced some release issues. Since then he has not produced any film under his banner, but has now expressed willingness to produce to a film with Ajith and Vijay in the lead roles.
It may be recalled that "Mankatha" director Venkat Prabhu has once said in an interview that Vijay told him he would have done Arjun's role if he had been approached as it was Ajith's 50th film. The director also expressed his desire to rope in both the stars in a film.
Now that producer Anbazhagan is ready to fund the big budget entertainer, it will be interesting to see if there will be any further developments in this regard.
As of now, Ajith is busy with the untitled Gautham Menon directorial, which is touted to be an action thriller. There has been a lot of buzz as to what would be Ajith's next project once he completes "Thala 55" (actor's 55th film). It is being speculated that the actor will be teaming up with director "Siruthai" Siva for the second time after the successful action entertainer "Veeram", which hit the screens for Pongal 2014.
On the other hand, Vijay is working AR Murugadoss's "Kaththi." The film will be releasing for Diwali this year. After wrapping the project, Vijay will move on to his next film – a fantasy thriller to be directed by Chimbu Devan.
