"Jigarthanda" producer Kathiresan has bought the remake rights of Rajinikanth's cult classic film "Moondru Mugam," which hit the screens in 1982.
"Moondru Mugam" is the superstar's one of the best films and he won the best actor award from the Tamil Nadu government for his portrayal of triple roles in it– Alex Pandian, Arun and John.
R. M. Veerappan produced the Rajini starrer under the banner of Sathya Movies and now Kathiresan of Five Star films has bagged the remake rights of the hit film.
There are a lot of rumours doing the rounds as to who would reprise Rajini's role in the remake version. The latest buzz is that Ajith and Vijay, two of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema, are the front-runners to play the triple roles in the remake. Speculations are rife that Karthi might also be considered for the lead role.
It may be recalled that Ajith has starred in the remake of Rajini's "Billa," which also turned out to be a highly successful film. Karthi has donned the lead role in the film titled "Alex Pandian," one of Rajini's character names from "Moondru Mugam," which is still popular among the audience even after three decades of its release.
With names of big stars being associated with the remake film, expectations about the film is sure to soar. Fans will be eager to know as to which actor would reprise the superstar's role. An official confirmation regarding the film's cast and crew is not revealed yet.
As of now, Ajith is busy with Gautham Menon's film, which is tentatively titled "Thala 55." The film's shooting is progressing well and is expected to be wrapped up soon. The action thriller flick is likely to hit the screens in November. Post the completion of "Thala 55," Ajith will reportedly commence the shooting for his next project to be directed by "Siruthai" Siva.
On the other hand, Vijay is working with AR Murugadoss for "Kaththi." The film's shooting is likely to be completed by the month end and the big budget entertainer is gearing up for its release during this Diwali.
Actor Karthi is awaiting the release of his upcoming film "Madras," directed by "Attakathi" Ranjith. The film, set in north Madras, is expected to hit the screens on 29 August. He is also working in a rural action entertainer "Komban" under "Kuttipuli" Muthaiah's direction.
