Thalapathy Vijay was the only A-list actor who paid his last respects to legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who was laid to rest at his farmhouse on Saturday, 26 September. The pictures of the actor at the funeral and consoling the deceased's son SP Charan have now gone viral among the Kollywood fans.
Unfortunately, this has paved the way for a negative trend on social media sites where the fans of Vijay are attacking other actors who failed to turn up at SPB's funeral. Notably, Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar have come under the scanner since they were considered to be close to the legendary singer.
SPB was a friend of Rajinikanth of four decades. The singer had given plenty of hits numbers and his intro songs to the superstar in movies have always struck a chord with the viewers.
On the other side, SPB had helped Ajith Kumar in his early days in the film industry. "Charan (SPB's son) and Ajith were classmates. They did their matriculation in Andhra. In his initial days, Ajith used to wear Charan's shirts and shoes for ad shoots over-sentimental reasons," he claimed in a TV show last year.
Visibly proud SPB said that he introduced Thala to films. "Ajith first acted in a Telugu movie which was produced by me."
Despite being close to SPB family, Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar did not turn up for the funeral. As a result, the fans of Vijay are trolling the two actors.
Going by the reports, it is said that the government had asked the film fraternity and public figures not to attend the funeral fearing the spread of Covid-19. Many actors believed to have skipped the occasion for this reason.
