It has been officially confirmed that Ajith has signed up with director Gautham Menon to play the lead role in the latter's new film.
The actor-director duo will commence the film's shooting in February 2014, after Ajith completes his upcoming film "Veeram".
His "Arrambam" is all set to release on 31 October. The actor is already shooting for "Siruthai" Siva's film "Veeram", which will be hitting the screens in January next year.
Earlier, there were reports that Ajith will be taking a break after completing "Veeram" to undergo a surgery. But it seems the actor has decided to continue with his projects and has accepted to work with Gautham Menon. The film will be produced by Sri Satya Sai Movies, the same banner which has produced "Arrambam". Confirming the news, the producers released a press statement annoucing that the film will take off in 2014.
A source close to Ajith was quoted as saying by The Times of India, "The project is confirmed. It happened due to the mutual respect that Gautham and Ajith have for each other. They have been discussing a film for a long time and finally, they have frozen on a storyline now. Ajith had earlier planned to take a break after Veeram, but will now shoot for Gautham's film from February. The banner that produced Ajith's Arrambam will make this film as well."
According to reports, the film is touted to be a stylish mass entertainer. Ajith will reportedly sport a never-seen-before look. This is not the first time that he has been offered a role in Gautham's film. The duo had planned to do a film few years ago, but it did not materialise.
Now that they are teaming up, it will be a real treat for fans as Gautham's films have not just been critically-acclaimed, but also commercially successful.
The director's last film "Neethaane En Ponvasantham" was released in 2012. He was supposed to begin work with Suriya in "Dhruva Natchathiram", but the actor opted out of the film saying he had not received the complete script despite waiting for a year.
