Producer K Rajan has revealed in an interview that Ajith's Vivegam was a dud at the box office. Hence Thala Ajith decided to work with the same production house on their upcoming action-thriller Viswasam, to help them recover the losses incurred due to the poor performance of Vivegam.
In an interview with a YouTube channel, K Rajan has lashed out at the directors for failing to finish the projects on promised dates and exceeding the fixed budgets. During the conversation, he has revealed that distributors of Vivegam met with huge losses. He further claimed that the movie made losses of nearly Rs 50 crore.
When quizzed why after Vivegam's failure Ajith agreed to work again with Siruthai Siva, he said that Thala wanted to make a film to recover the losses incurred from Vivegam. As per K Rajan, Ajith is having taking care of various nuances that is going on making Viswasam as he does not want to repeat the mistakes which happened when filming Vivegam.
Ajith has asked the director to finish the movie within the allotted budget and time. The producer also hailed the actor for trying to help the producer in whatever way possible by him.
Vivegam was a spy-thriller made at a huge budget. It was Siruthai Siva's third movie with Ajith after hits like Veeram and Vedalam.
Coming back to their upcoming action movie Viswasam, the shooting of the movie was supposed to begin in March, but it got delayed due to the ongoing Kollywood strike. The makers want to release the movie during Diwali. Nayanthara will play the female lead in Viswasam.
With the delay in the commencement of the shooting, it has to be seen whether the film will be out on-time or will the release and shoot be pushed back.
