The makers of "HNY" had created some buzz when they released the film's official poster. They created a social media campaign to release the poster in a unique way. The actors including SRK, Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Sonu Sood along with director Farah Khan had signed the posters for their fans.
"Send #HappyNewYear #WackyWishes @HNY & if I like it, I will not only re-tweet it but also send you a personalized new year message," SRK posted on his Twitter handle in January.
By announcing the trailer launch date, the makers have now strengthened the buzz surrounding "Happy New Year". Also, the trailer release report is expected to boost the opening day collection of "Singham Returns".
"Singham Returns", directed by Rohit Shetty, is set to hit screens worldwide on 15 August. The film, which also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, is a sequel to 2011 film "Singham".
How trailers are attached
If the films are produced under the same banner, then it's the producer's decision to attach the trailer with the film. In 2012, SRK's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" trailer was attached with his arch-rival Salman Khan's film "Ek Tha Tiger", since both were produced under the Yash Raj Films banner.
However, when the producers of the two films are not same, the trailer is attached on request, which sometimes creates an awkward situation for the makers. But in "Singham Returns" and "HNY" case, Shetty won't have to face such a situation as the lead actors are his good friends, Deccan Chronicle reported.
SRK recently patched up with "Son of Sardaar" actor by hugging him. He surprised everyone when he went to the sets of Shetty's film and hugged Devgn.
Shah Rukh also wished the team of "Singham Returns" luck for the release.
"Want to wish Rohit Shetty & Ajay Devgun & their whole team of Singham2 the best of luck. May u entertain us as u have been doing for yrs," SRK tweeted.
