Earlier this week, there were reports that Golmaal 4 release date is being advanced because Ajay Devgn isn't too keen on clashing the film with a big-budget film like 2.0. It was taken as just another rumour, but now there's a revised release date in the picture.
Golmaal 4 will now be released on October 6, 2017, instead of Diwali. Raju Mahalingam, 2.0 creative producer, wrote on Twitter: "Rohitji, thanks for the magnanimous support given for 2.0! You are indeed a great fan of our @superstarrajini!"
So, why was the film's release moved to another date?
Team Golmaal 4 was confident that 2.0 wouldn't release on Diwali and therefore, they announced their film on the said date. After 2.0 teaser was released, the makers of Golmaal 4 realised they would be taking a huge risk if their film arrived on the same date as Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth's 2.0.
"And since Ajay had earlier faced a clash with Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on Diwali this year, they decided to shift the release of the film. G4 will release their film on October 6, 2017, two weeks before 2.0 thus giving space to both the films," a source told DNA.
Meanwhile, trade analysts are divided in their opinion about the box office clash. Some said there aren't enough multiplexes to run two big films simultaneously adding that clashes have become commonplace, others were a little doubtful if G4 would survive the box office battle given the star cast and budget of 2.0.
