Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ajay Devgn are apparently teaming up for "Baadshaho." Sources say the makers met the actress a couple of times and have been waiting for her go-ahead.
The former beauty queen is "quite impressed" with the script and will soon okay the project, Deccan Chronicle reported. If everything goes as planned, "Baadshaho" will be their fifth film together, after "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" (1999), "Hum Kisise Kum Nahin" (2002), "Khakee" (2002) and "Raincoat" (2002).
Interestingly, Aishwarya isn't the only actress to have been approached for the lead. Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor Khan were briefly associated with the project. Reports suggest the "Shivaay" actor was keen on roping in Kareena as the script had undergone a few changes.
"Kareena has taken many scripts with her to read and she will finalise films for this year. But the three scripts that she's focusing on are the remake of 'Sadma' (produced by Boney Kapoor), a biopic on eminent Gandhian, freedom fighter and social activist Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, and Milan Luthria's 'Baadshaho,' which stars Ajay Devgn," an insider told DNA.
Meanwhile, another source told the daily Ajay wanted to get Priyanka on board as she is hot property on the international grid right now. He had recommended the "Quantico" star's name to director Milan Luthria.
Loosely based on the 1975 emergency, the film is expected to be rich in emotions. Slated for a Jan. 26, 2017 release, it may clash with Hrithik Roshan's "Kaabil."
In other news, Aishwarya is wrapping up Omung Kumar's "Sarbjit," which already has everyone's attention courtesy its gripping first-look posters. Meanwhile, Ajay is busy performing daredevil stunts for his directorial venture "Shivaay."
