Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who played the female lead in Robot, got replaced by Amy Jackson in 2.0, which resulted in a comparison being made between the two actress' performances in the respective movies of the same franchise. According to a poll conducted by International Business Times India, Aishwarya's role in the first part of the franchise was more liked than what Amy played in 2.0.
Through a poll, fans were asked to vote and tell if they liked Aishwarya or Amy in their respective roles in the two movies. Aishwarya won it with the maximum vote of 56.1 percent. 31.71 percent participants voted for Amy, while 9.76 percent liked both of them, and 2.44 percent chose to go for "not sure".
It is pertinent to note that Aishwarya in Robot had a much meatier role than what Amy got in 2.0. The entire storyline of the original film revolved around the character of Sana, played by the former Miss World. On the other side, Amy played the role of a humanoid robot in 2.0, and though she has some crucial scenes in the film, it is not as significant as what Aishwarya had.
Also, Amy's screen presence in the movie is much lesser as compared to the other actress in Robot. All these factors might have influenced the poll result.
Directed by Shankar, 2.0 is the most expensive Indian movie ever made. It has been made at a budget of over Rs 500 crore. With VFX of international standard along with the star power of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, the movie was expected to create new box office records. Although 2.0 has had a good opening at the box office, and is still running well, it has not been up to the expectations.
