This week Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was in the news for two reasons – first for her Cannes Film Festival 2016 appearances and second for pregnancy rumours. Her first Cannes red carpet appearance sparked pregnancy rumours and several fans tweeted saying that the "Sarbjit" actress is pregnant with her second child.
Aishwarya wore a studded champagne coloured gown with a cape designed by Lebanese fashion designer Ali Younes. While she looked stunning in all the photos, a particular picture of Aishwarya seemed to hint at a paunch, which several believed was a baby bump. In no time, the photo went viral on Twitter with several users commenting that she looks pregnant.
However, the pregnancy news is "just rumours." A source close to Aishwarya confirmed to Pinkvilla that she is not pregnant with the second child. "Aishwarya is not pregnant," the source said.
Aishwarya was at the Cannes Film Festival as the brand ambassador of cosmetic group L'Oreal Paris. She marked her 15th Cannes appearance in a stunning embellished gold tulle cape dress, but her blue eye make-up played spoilsport.
The actress was also at the French Riveria for the screening of her film "Sarbjit." A special screening of "Sarbjit" was held at Cannes, before its worldwide release. "Sarbjit" cast, including director Omung Kumar, co-star Richa Chadha, producers Bhushan Kumar and Jackky Bhagnani were also present at the screening. However, her co-star Randeep Hooda, who plays the titular role in the film, missed the event.
"Sarbjit" is a biographical drama highlighting the struggle of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh, who was convicted of terrorism by a Pakistani court, and how his sister Dalbir Kaur fought relentlessly for his return to the country. Aishwarya plays the role of Sarabjit's sister Dalbir, while Randeep is seen as Sarabjit.
