The movie was initially offered to Kapoor by director Rakesh Roshan but she refused to do it. It is said that it was Bebo’s mother Babita who decided her daughter’s debut and she chose “Refugee” opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Patel and Kapoor indirectly attacked each other publically. In an interview with Filmfare magazine, Bebo criticized both Patel and the movie. She said that the movie was all about Hrithik Roshan and she is glad that she didn’t do the film as it was focussed on the hero. She also said that Patel did not look beautiful in the movie. “Singham Returns” actress even referred Patel as ‘just a replacement’, on which the latter replied, "I never had any animosity with Kareena.
