Aishwarya Rai and husband Abhishek Bachchan on 1 June joined international stars including Madonna, Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek in London to support the charity "Chime for Change".
Charity group "Chime for Change" organised a fund raising concert ''The Sound of Change Live" which was held at Twickenham stadium in the British capital. The charity helps promoting education and heath for women and girls across the world.
Aishwarya and Abhishek, who have 16-month-old daughter Aaradhya, are known for promoting girl child. Also, Aishwarya Rai is the international Goodwill Ambassador for UNAIDS, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS.
During the event, Aish and Abhi spoke about the gender inequality that still exists in society.
"It's shocking gender inequality still exists... We need to bring about a change in mindset," Aishwarya said, according to CNN.
The concert which took place on Saturday is said to be funding at least 120 projects that raise awareness and support women and girls. The ticket holder of the concert had the right to choose from the many projects supporting education, health and justice for girls and women.
Aishwarya and Abhishek urged people to contribute to the welfare of HIV+ women in India.
The charity is funded by Italian fashion house Gucci and headlined by Knowles, Salma Hayek -Pinault and Frida Giannini, Gucci's Creative Director.
The concert was also attended by Mary J Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jessica Chastain, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, singer Timbaland, actress Freida Pinto, actor James Franco and Ellie Goulding among others.
