Several products claiming to turn one's dusky complexion into fair are mostly endorsed by fair-looking Bollywood stars. But the question is, "Is it wrong to have dark skin colour?"
Here are some of the actors who have endorsed fairness creams:
Katrina Kaif
While promoting "Dhoom 3", Katrina Kaif was asked whether she is okay endorsing fairness products. On this the actress said, "While endorsing a cream I will make sure that it does not claim to improve skin colour or fairness, as it is ridiculous and wrong. I am not sure if I have done it in the past. But now, there is a lot of awareness and I am sure I will not do it henceforth."
But the "Bang Bang" didn't stick to her words when she appeared on a skin-whitening cream commercial by L'Oreal.
Salman Khan
Surprisingly, Salman Khan, who believes in 'Being Human', took up the offer to endorse a fairness cream recently. According to Bollywoodlife, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" actor advertising such product can cause serious damage to the self confidence of today's youngsters.
Shah Rukh Khan
The King Khan of B-Town, Shah Rukh Khan, has been promoting a men's fairness cream for Emami for a long time. The commercial depicts that dark skin colour men are losers, which again puts a wrong impression on this generation.
Deepika Padukone
Bollywood's leading actress Deepika Padukone has been endorsing Neutrogena fairness cream for almost three years.
Shahid Kapoor
The "Haider" actor Shahid Kapoor is also listed in this league. The handsome hunk advertises for Vaseline fairness cream for men.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra, who won several awards for her flick "Mary Kom," is seen endorsing Ponds fairness cream.
John Abraham
Model-turned-actor John Abraham has also been featuring in ads for such products for men from Garnier.
