Bharti Airtel, a global telecommunications service provider, has emerged as the best mobile network on road in Mumbai as per Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI's) latest survey.
According to the two-day drive test conducted by the TRAI, Airtel has the least number of call drops in Mumbai. The benchmark set by TRAI for the quality of service for call drops had to be less than 2% and the call drop rate for Airtel in Mumbai was 0.97%.
In terms of the call quality, call connect rate and coverage, Airtel was declared as the best player among the other telecom service providers with a call success rate of 97% and signal coverage of 95.1%. Of all the calls made during the test using Airtel's network, 91.1% of the calls had acceptable quality.
"We are pleased with the results of the tests conducted by the TRAI where Airtel has emerged as the best mobile network on road. The efforts and steps taken to augment our networks in Mumbai have resulted in Airtel making it to the top in the list of network providers in the city," said Ashok Ganapathy, Hub CEO - Mumbai. Maharashtra, Goa & Gujarat at Bharti Airtel Ltd.
"In order to enhance the customer experience we recently launched 4G services in Mumbai, prior to which Platinum 3G was launched. These launches are expected to further improve the data and voice experience of the smartphone users and help us further consolidate on our proposition of the best smartphone network," he said.
In Mumbai, the test was carried out between 9 am and 7:30 pm on June 23-24. TRAI covered peak and off-peak hours and about 500 calls were made for per operator. On TRAI's behalf, TUV SUD conducted the drive test, covering various locations in the south and central parts of the city.
