Akshay Kumar's "Airlift" and "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" (KKHH 3) have continued to do well on weekdays and collected over Rs 106 crore together at the Indian box office in six days.
"Airlift" and "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" were among the most hyped and highly promoted Bollywood movies of 2016. The Akshay Kumar-starrer got better advance booking than the Ekta Kapoor-produced film. Both movies were released in over 2,000 screens each across the domestic market on 22 January.
As predicted by trade analysts, both movies opened to good response everywhere in the country on Friday. "Airlift" and "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" collected Rs 12.35 crore and Rs 8.15 crore, respectively, at the Indian box office on the first day. The Akshay Kumar-starrer led the race.
"Airlift" received positive response from viewers, and the word of mouth took its business upward on Saturday and Sunday. "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" got mix talk from audiences and the word of mouth took a toll on its collection over the weekend. The war thriller topped the domestic business chart in the weekend, while the sex comedy took the second spot.
Both "Airlift" and "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" witnessed a drop in their collections on Monday. But when compared to their opening day, the two films showed around 20% and 70% increase on their fourth day. On Republic Day, "Airlift" recorded its highest collection in a day, while the growth of the erotic comedy film was average.
Both movies witnessed a drop in business again on Wednesday. "Airlift" collected Rs 6 crore at the Indian box office on its sixth day, and its domestic total collection stands at Rs 78.50 crore nett. "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" collected Rs 1.65 crore at the domestic box office, and its six-day total has reached Rs 28.80 crore nett.
