India's low-cost budget carrier AirAsia India on Sunday announced discounted airfares, starting from Rs. 899 one way. The limited-period scheme is valid from June 13 to 19.
AirAsia India on Sunday completed two years of its India operations, to mark the occasion, the airline has come up with the offer scheme. Passengers could book their tickets for 10 domestic destinations and 120 international destinations, which are operated by the AirAsia group.
The budget carrier is offering discounted fares from Delhi or Bangalore to Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Pune, Guwahati and Goa at Rs. 899. In addition, AirAsia Berhad launched flights to new destinations such as Shantou, Auckland, Mauritius and Tehran.
AirAsia India carried 6.86 lakh passengers in the first four months of the present calendar year, which translates into a market share of 2.2 percent.
Other airlines
Earlier this month, another domestic carrier Jet Airways had announced special low fares for travellers to deal with the "lean season" in the aviation sector. It had announced 20 percent discount on business and economy class on base fares on its India network for a limited time-period.
In May, SpiceJet had offered a three-day-sale of tickets with domestic base fare starting from Rs. 511 and international base fare starting from Rs. 2,111 to mark its 11th anniversary. State-owned carrier Air India had also offered a super sale scheme, which would offer passengers an all-inclusive ticket of Rs. 1,499 on its domestic network.
