Air Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, said on Wednesday that it has seen its on-time performance (OTP) reach 89.35% -- best among domestic carriers -- with most of its flights arriving and departing on schedule.
Vistara was able to stay close to its schedule during peak fog and low visibility season, and on its very first month of operation.
"Vistara's on—time performance in the very first month of its operations stood as high as 89.35%", the carrier said in a statement.
Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) statistics for January released a week ago saw budget airlines IndiGo post OTA of 73.3% and GoAir clocking 65.8%.
On the other hand, SpiceJet posted 49.6% OTA plagued by delays resulting from financial issues, which saw Ajay Singh takeover the airline and bring in the necessary funding.
Jet Airways recorded 63.7% OTP and Air India recorded 52.1%, reported PTI.
Vistara launched its operations flying to three destinations – New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. A week ago, the airline also started flying to Goa and will launch services to Hyderabad from 1 March.
