National carrier Air India has rubbished all the rumours claiming that the airlines would be shut down by October.
On August 25, a fake notification started circulating that said Air India would be shut down from October 1 this year and had also mentioned that the airline employees should start looking for new jobs. The rumour had caused panic and confusion in the minds of those working with the airlines.
The national career cleared the air on Saturday and called it a "false propaganda" perpetrated by individuals involved in "anti-nationals acts." The airlines took to Twitter and said that the "fake message masquerading as notification" was false.
It posted a release which said: "This is absolutely incorrect and false propaganda hatched with a malicious intent to create confusion and destabilise Air India just when our performance graph is rising."
It further said that people should ignore such fake messages and it is planning to take strict action against the ones who had spread the rumour in the first place. The airlines called it an "anti-national" act.
Air India has been facing a lot of flak from its employees for the delay in salaries owing to a debt of more than Rs 48,000 crore. The government had even tried selling 76 percent stake in the company earlier in May this year but could not find any buyers, reports Business Standard.
News 18 reported that the government was working to find a revival strategy to improve the situation before giving a final push to disinvestments.
