Bollywood's ace director-producer Karan Johar has now become an actor as well. He will be seen in a negative role in Anurag Kashyap's "Bombay Velvet" along with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
The innocent-looking Johar in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" has transformed himself into a successful person in Indian film industry over the years.
But every booming star has landed into controversies more than once. Likewise, Johar has also faced troubles in his career.
Here are Karan Johar's controversies that shocked everyone:
AIB Knockout
"AIB Roast" created waves all over when the makers released the roast video on YouTube, which featured Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar.
KJo tweeted slamming his haters, "Not your cup of tea...don't think of it!!!"
It seems moral police were scandalised with the director's frank discourse, which also included his statement about 'positions'.
Johar's First Love
Johar once grabbed headlines when he referred to Akshay Kumar's wife Twinkle Khanna as his first love. In an episode of "Koffee With Karan" in which Kumar was the guest, Johar confessed, "The only woman in my life who I thought I was in love with was your wife. I was madly in love with her. I named my character in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai after her because I was in love with her."
Sexual Orientation
Everybody might be aware that Johar has been questioned regarding sexual orientation numerous times and he has asserted his right to keep it to himself.
Once, in Simi Garewal's talk show, the director said, "If you are single and 39, then obviously there will be conjectures about your sexual orientation. I am not worried about that, I am comfortable with all rumours. I am comfortable with their perception of my sexual orientation. Nobody knows what I stand for in my personal life and I like to keep it that way."
Tiff with Ram Gopal Verma
Though both the directors, KJo and Ram Gopal Verma, make different kinds of films, but still the two had a tussle on Twitter.
The tiff took place when RGV tweeted, "If someone takes off from Karan Johar's 'Student of the year' and makes Teacher of the year it will become the Disaster of the year."
The comment didn't go well with Johar and he replied by tweeting, "Disaster of the year is your territory Ramu...no one can ever replace the comfortable place you have made for yourself there."
Issues with Shah Rukh Khan
Rumours buzzed of the never-ending friendship of SRK and Johar had come to an end. It all started when KJo invited Salman Khan as his first guest in the last season of "Koffee With Karan."
