An Air India flight from New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport on Tuesday evening following a suspected engine malfunction.
The incident took place around at 7.30 pm on 28 July and it left more than 200 passengers stranded in Nagpur. They alleged that airline made no efforts to arrange an alternative flight or provide them accommodation.
The incident provoked Malayalam actor-turned-parliamentarian Innocent, who was on-board the flight, calling the national flag carrier "irresponsible".
The MP from Chalakudy in Kerala said that he will try do everything possible to change the situation using his clout.
Kerala's Coconut Development Board chairman TK Jose, former additional chief secretary T Balakrishnan and ex-CEO of Non-Resident Keralites' Affairs Department (NORKA) P Sudeep were also on the flight.
The airline finally made an arrangement for the stranded passengers on Wednesday morning. However, the flight was made available only till Kochi, where it landed around 9.30 am.
