Nokia is making strides in the smartphone industry with handsets like Nokia 3310, Nokia 3, 5 and Nokia 6. But that's not the end of it as the company is just getting started.
HMD Global, which is using Nokia's brand name to succeed in the smartphone biz, is expected to launch more Nokia phones in 2017. While the current portfolio lacks a flagship device, Nokia 9 has been filling the void albeit with rumours and speculations.
But the rumours about the Nokia 9 are so frequent and strong that there's no denial the premium Nokia flagship is underway. Adding to the pile of Nokia 9 leaks, the handset just cleared FCC – adding a touch of authenticity to the rumours.
It's clear now that Nokia 9 exists and with FCC's clearing seemingly is coming soon. But that's not the only piece of solid evidence in favour of Nokia 9. The handset recently passed EA and Bluetooth certifications and also made a pit stop on benchmarking sites Geekbench and AnTuTu. With all these leaks, we got a clear look at the specifications of the phone itself, which should interest consumers.
Nokia 9, which was listed with model number TA-1004 on FCC website, is said to feature a 5.3-inch and support dual SIM cards along with microSD card. Other features of the phone include a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, Adreno 540 GPU and 64GB storage.
Like other premium flagships, the phone will have 2K screen resolution and a dual camera setup with 13MP sensors. With its features, Nokia 9 is poised to go after current flagship like Samsung Galaxy S8, and upcoming ones like OnePlus 5.
The launch of the Nokia 9 is expected to happen in the third quarter this year. If the rumours are accurate, it will be priced at around $699 (Rs 45,000 approx) in the US, meaning it will not be priced to impress.
In the meantime, Nokia is going to launch its Nokia 3, 5 and 6 smartphones in India on June 13. The handsets range cover entry-level and mid-range categories. Nokia 9 will fill the void for the high-end category once it's launched.
