The Agra City Police have registered a complaint against a teacher and her husband for allegedly beating up their differently-abled maid and her minor son with an iron rod. While Putul Devi suffered injuries to her leg and shoulder, her eight-year-old son Saurabh has sustained wounds on his head and back, police sources said.
The incident took place after the couple went through footage from CCTV cameras installed at their home. The footage allegedly showed the maid's son stealing milk powder.
"They removed my saree, undressed my son and beat us up from 1 pm to 6 pm... They accused my husband of theft and when I asked them to cite instances of theft, they beat me up even more," Devi told ANI.
She further alleged that the couple threatened her with dire consequences if she discloses the incident to their neighbours. However, she apprroached the local police and lodged a complaint.
When police arrived at the teacher's house to investigate the matter, the couple accused Devi of beating their child. "They accused me of beating their child, but I was only tapping the child's head so that he sleeps," Devi said.
Instead of taking action against the couple, policemen took Rs. 300 from her as 'petrol expenses' to travel to the teacher's house, Devi told reporters.
The victims will be send for a medical examination and action will be taken based on the medical report, Superintendent of Police, Agra (city), Rajesh Kumar informed.
