After Dangal, Zaira Wasim has bagged another sports drama. The young talented actress has been signed for a movie based on the sport of lawn tennis.
Producers Ravi Ahuja and Sanjay Gupta have signed Zaira to play the lead in the film tentatively titled Deuce. It is the first project under the production house DYT Productions.
"We have signed an agreement with Zaira, who will play the lead protagonist. We plan to go on floors in October or November of this year," Ahuja told International Business Times India.
Arshad Warsi has also been approached for a pivotal role in the movie, but he is yet to accept the offer as talks are going on related to the availability of dates, the co-producer added. Arshad has been approached to play the role of Zaira's trainer.
Sakshi Tanwar, who had played the role of Zaira's on-screen mother in Dangal, has again been offered to play the same role in this sports drama. However, unlike in Dangal, her character is likely to be that of a tough and stubborn mother. Apart from Zaira, none of the star cast has been confirmed yet.
The movie will be directed by debutant Dhruv Lather from Canada. The story of Deuce revolves around a young girl, who is extremely passionate about Tennis as her late father was also in the same sport. However, her father meets a tragic death, following which, her mother starts hating the game of Tennis. While Tennis is in the girl's genes, her mother tries everything to keep her away from it, but for a strong reason.
After the success of Dangal and Secret Superstar, it looks like Zaira is all set to come up with a promising movie.
