The rumours about veteran actor Kamal Haasan hosting Bigg Boss Tamil have turned out to be true. Yes, the Universal Star will be anchoring the Tamil version of the reality show.
The actor, who has always loved to take up new challenges, has shared his excitement with The Quint. Kamal Haasan said he has donned many roles in different capacities, but hosting a TV show is something that he never tried before.
Haasan already has two movies (Vishwaroopam and Sabaash Naidu) to complete and he will now be balancing his television commitment with his films.
Talking about his Bollywood counterpart Salman Khan, who hosts the Hindi version of Bigg Boss, the Ulaganayagan is all praise for the Sultan of Bollywood. As per Kamal Haasan, the Dabangg star is doing a "wonderful job" as a host and he was impressed with the way the latter handled the contestants without trying to display his superiority.
"There is no pretension or patronising in his attitude. Being friendly comes naturally to him. And he gives advice as a friend, not as a mentor. There is none of the I-know-better superiority in his attitude. I'd also like to bond genuinely with the contestants, though how it goes will depend entirely on how they perceive me, as a friend or as a mentor," the website quoted Kamal as saying.
The actor also claimed that his understanding of human behaviour will make help him give advice to the inmates, who will be part of the show. He ended on the note that he would like to genuinely bond with the inmates.
Apart from Hindi, Big Boss has already been made in Kannada and Bengali. Kiccha Sudeep and Jeet are hosting the Kannada and Bengali shows, respectively.
There were attempts earlier to bring Bigg Boss to the homes of Tamil viewers, but the idea was dropped after they did not find an appropriate actor to host the show.
