After Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar, it is now the turn of Silambarasan to become Billa. Well, the buzz is that Venkat Prabhu is planning to remake Rajini's movie in Kollywood, which will become the third version of "Billa."
Venkat Prabhu revealed his plans to remake "Billa" on the social media site, Periscope, on Sunday, June 5. Later, he reconfirmed on Twitter that he was ready for the project, which will take off in 2018. He tweeted, "Saar @iam_str #billa2018 u me and @thisisysr what say?!?!! Me ready! [sic]"
"Poranthathula irundhey ready .... lets rock it #Billa2018," Simbu responded to Venkat Prabhu's tweet. Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing the music for the upcoming project.
Venkat Prabhu's announcement took the netizens by storm on Sunday as they started a Twitter trend with the hash tag, #Billa2018.
It has to be noted that "Billa" itself was the remake of the Bollywood hit, "Don," in which Amitabh Bachchan had played the lead role. Writers Salim-Javed had penned the original film. R Krishnamurthy remade the movie in Tamil in 1980 with Rajinikanth playing the protagonist.
It was remade by Vishnuvardhan in 2007 with Ajith as the lead actor.
Meanwhile, Venkat Prabhu is busy with his next film, "Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings." On the other hand, Simbu has a couple of films to complete before moving on to "Billa."
Simbu, who is basking in the success of "Idhu Namma Aalu," is busy with "Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada," which will hit the screens in July. He is also working in Adhik Ravichandran's "Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan."
