The movies of Mohanlal and Mammootty are always among the most-anticipated projects of the year. The Big Ms are now basking in the success of their recent releases Pulimurugan and Thoppil Joppan, released on the same day at the Kerala box office.
Both the movies have been performing well at the box office, and it is Mohanlal's Pulimurugan that has been earning tremendous collection from the worldwide box office beating the Mammootty-starrer.
The Vysakh directed action thriller is set to become the biggest grosser in Malayalam breaking the record of the superstar's blockbuster family entertainer Drishyam.
The comedy entertainer of Mammootty has also been performing decently even though its collection is very low compared to Pulimurugan.

Now, the movies of the superstars are again going to lock horns against each other in December. Mohanlal's upcoming family entertainer Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol has been scheduled as a Christmas release and the makers have confirmed that the Jibu Jacob-directorial will hit the screens in Kerala on December 22.
Though the makers have not officially announced the release date of Mammootty's The Great Father, the family entertainer directed by Haneef Adeni is rumoured to be pitted against the Mohanlal-starrer on December 22.
However, earlier rumours had it that the movie, which is being bankrolled by the production house August Cinema, co-owned by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Arya, director Santhosh Sivan and entrepreneur Shaji Natesan, is likely to be released on December 24.
Nevertheless, the Mammootty-starrer will be competing with Mohanlal's movie as they have been scheduled as Christmas releases this year.
