Intex is keeping up with the competition by launching its first 4G-enabled Aqua 4G+ in India, just a day after Micromax announced Canvas Knight 2. The new launch follows two other smartphone releases by Intex, targeted mainly towards the low-budget sector. But the Aqua 4G+ is an important milestone in the company's smartphone portfolio as it is the stepping stone for the future 4G devices.
Intex Aqua 4G+ packs decent specs and features to attract consumers. It is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. The 5-inch display packs 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and is protected by Dragon Trail glass, which is resistant to scratches.
On the camera side, Aqua 4G+ offers a competitive 13-megapixel rear facing snapper with flash and Samsung sensor. The handset is equipped with several functions such as slow-motion video recording, digital zoom, multi shot, night vision and more. In addition, Aqua 4G+ packs a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
Inside the 9.45mm sleek Aqua 4G+ is a 2,300mAh Li-Polymer battery that promises up to 8 hours of talk time. In addition to 4G LTE, Aqua 4G+ offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and USB connectivity. To attract the people from different states in India, Intex has loaded its new handset with 21 regional languages.
In India, Intex faces stiff challenge from companies like Lenovo, Micromax, Xiaomi and others. The Aqua 4G+ competes with popular handsets like Yu Yureka, Yu Yuphoria, Lenovo A6000 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Canvas Knight 2. The pricing of these handsets differ and Intex offers its Aqua 4G+ at ₹9,499, which may not be the best when compared to cheaper alternatives available in the market. Availability of the handset will not be a pressing concern as both online and offline channels offer Intex smartphones.
