AR Murugadoss and Vijay are reportedly joining hands again. The duo seems to be planning a sequel to their blockbuster, to be titled "Thuppakki 2".
As per buzz, AR Murugadoss and Vijay have decided to work again and have locked in on a script, which is said to be written by the director as a sequel to "Thuppakki". Lyca Productions, which had made "Kaththi" with Murugadoss and Ilayathalapathy, has shown interest in producing their new film.
"Thuppakki" was an action-thriller revolving around a patriotic Army intelligence officer who destroys the master plan of a terrorist organisation and deactivates sleeper cells. While Kajal Aggarwal had played the female lead, Vidyut Jamwal was the baddie in the Tamil flick. The fresh narrative and good story had impressed the audience.
Following the success of the movie, AR Murugadoss had expressed interest in making a sequel. Now, it seems he is ready with a good story. And the sequel trend is getting popular among the Kollywood audience. So, the duo feels the time is ripe for the second instalment of "Thuppakki".
However, the project will not happen anytime soon as AR Murugadoss and Vijay are committed to other films. The director is currently busy with the Bollywood film "Akira", starring Sonakshi Sinha. It is a remake of the Tamil movie "Mouna Guru".
Murugadoss will take up a bilingual movie starring Mahesh Babu once he wraps up "Akira". This is expected to keep him busy for the next 10-12 months. On the other end, Vijay is busy with "Theri", directed by Atlee Kumar.
"Theri", which has Samantha and Amy Jackson as the female leads, will release in April. Vijay has already given the nod to Bharathan's untitled movie, which will be his 60th film as a hero. So, he will be able to start on AR Murugadoss' "Thuppakki 2" only in 2017.
