Barely two months after Kickass Torrents was shut down, another free file-sharing website has bitten the dust.
Torrent Hound, which has for long been one of the top 10 BitTorrent sites, has gone offline for the first time since its inception in 2007. According to reports, it's not coming back, as it has voluntarily shut down.
Torrent Hound founder, in a one-word mail to Torrent Freak, confirmed the closure last night. The message reads "Finito," meaning finished in Italian.
With this, Torrent Hound is the third major BitTorrent site to get closed this year, Kickass Torrents and Torrentz being the other two. Last year, media-streaming websites EZTV and Popcorn Time, and file-sharing BitTorrent site YIFY.com were also shut down following copyright infringement charges.
This news is a confidence booster for copyrights activists and Hollywood movie makers, who are working hard to put an end to online piracy, which costs billions of dollars of revenue to them.

That said, it is really hard to kill torrent sites. For instance, Kickass Torrents' official .cr is offline, but various clone sites are still active. Even The Pirate Bay is active via proxy sites.
Here is the list of some alternate free file-sharing websites:
- Extra Torrent
- RARBG
- ISOHUNT.TO
- 1337X.to
- Lime Torrent
