Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor is all set to don a superhero avatar in his upcoming film.
According to Press Trust of India (PTI), the young actor will follow Hrithik Roshan's footsteps and be seen in a fantasy film where he will play the hero with supernatural powers.
The untitled project will be directed by Ranbir's close friend Ayan Mukherjee and the project is currently said to be in the nascent stages.
When asked if his superhero role will be on the lines of Hrithik's "Krrish" series, the "Barfi" actor explained: "It is not like 'Krrish 3', it is something very different, it is going to be a fantasy film."
The trend of superheroes in Bollywood in recent times was introduced by Hrithik's alien cum superhero series and later was carried forward with SRK's mediocre "Ra One." Ranbir Kapoor jumping on the bandwagon implies a greater competition in the superhero films genre, which till date has been Hollywood's forte.
Even though Ranbir failed to elaborate on his super-hero character, it is being speculated that the film might be the adaptation of Amish Tripathi fictional novel "Immortals of Melhua." Earlier reports had it that director Ayan Mukherjee had been roped in for the project.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old star who has recently returned from his foreign vacation opened up about his recent box office failure and rubbished rumours of his ₹20 crore fee charge.
"I am jobless now... have no new films... hence this look. I don't know if you have seen my last film (Besharam - hinting at the failure of the film). It is embarrassing to talk about the economics of business (fee hike). Actors share profit and loss of a film. It is not true (Rs20 crore hike)," Ranbir told the news agency.
