Aamir Khan, who is all set to appear as a wrestler in his upcoming movie "Dangal," will reportedly play the real-life character of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma in his next film.
Aamir's "Dangal" is a biopic on former wrestler Mahavir Phogat and his other upcoming movie will reportedly be a biopic too. After portraying the character of Phogat, Aamir will reportedly be seen getting into the shoes of Rakesh Sharma.
"Aamir will play Rakesh Sharma in his next film. He is all set to move from playing a pehalwan to now going out to the space," Bollywoodlife quoted a source as saying. Rakesh is a former Indian Air Force pilot and the first Indian to go to space. The space programme was jointly carried out by India's ISRO and Russia's Soviet Intercosmos.
Aamir is known for his versatility and space is one venture that has not been explored in Bollywood yet. The actor is currently prepping for the promotions of "Dangal" that will present him as a father of two daughters. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, "Dangal" features Sakshi Tanwar as Aamir's onscreen wife. Two newcomers Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra will portray the characters of Aamir's onscreen daughters, Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari respectively.
The film is slated to be released on Dec. 23 this year but there are reports suggesting that its released will be pushed to next year. Aamir's "Dangal" and Salman Khan's "Sultan" are both based on the sport of wrestling and hence Aamir is reportedly planning to push the release of his upcoming film to next year. "Sultan" will hit the screens on Eid this year.
