While Bollywood actresses are looking for meaty roles these days, Kareena Kapoor Khan appeared to be satisfied with minor roles in films like "Singham Returns", "Golmaal" series and "Bodyguard".
However, the actress has now joined her contemporaries and has reportedly given her nod to a female-centric project. The film will be directed by Anand L Rai of "Raanjhanaa" and "Tanu Weds Manu" fame.
The "Jab We Met" actress, who has been offered several projects, is said to have found the script of the new film light-hearted and interesting.
"Kareena is the hero of the film. The film doesn't have a very serious subject. It's a woman-oriented lighthearted comedy with an intriguing storyline. It will also star several other good supporting actors, which is something that's always seen in all of Anand's films," a source told Bollywood Life.
The untitled film will start rolling cameras in January 2015 and a major portion of the film is likely to be shot in Lucknow.
"Kareena has been getting many offers and over the last few months, there have been several reports of films that she has supposedly signed, rejected, or those that have been stalled. But she has been in no hurry to take up projects as she is content with what she has on her plate right now." the source added.
Meanwhile, the actress is currently in Delhi shooting for Kabir Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" opposite Salman Khan.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is based on the love story of a Muslim guy, essayed by Salman, who falls in love with a Hindu girl, played by Kareena. The film, also featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is scheduled to release on 16 July 2015.
