After Arijit Taneja, who essays the role of Purab on "Kumkum Bhagya," actor Ankit Mohan has decided to quit the show. Ankit played Abhi's (Shabir Ahluwalia) cousin, Akash.
The actor has bagged a bigger project, which has prompted his decision to make an exit from the popular daily soap. Ankit is apparently serving his notice period now, and will shoot his last episode on Aug.15.
"Ankit had informed the makers that he wants to quit the show for better prospects. After several meetings, they parted ways amicably. He is currently serving his notice period, which ends on August 15," a source told Bombay Times.
Confirming the report, Ankit said: "Yes, it is true that I have decided to move on. My character was doing really well, so it was a tough decision for me to quit the show. I cannot reveal much about my next show at this point in time. All I can say is that there is something big lined up because of which I took this step."
Arijit too will wrap up his track on Aug.12. Arijit, who rose to popularity with the show, is rumoured to have decided to quit as his character lost the limelight over a period of time.
Meanwhile, in the upcoming episodes of "Kumkum Bhagya," Abhi will be shown to have suffered partial memory loss. He will only remember his relationship with Tanu (Leena Jumani) and will fail to recollect his wedding with Pragya (Sriti Jha). To help him remember things, all the characters will look and behave the way they did three years ago. Pragya, who transformed herself into a bold woman, will be back as the simple, demure girl. Abhi will be seen as a rockstar, while Tanu will play a supermodel.
