It looks like September is the month of breakups for Hollywood celebrities. After Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, another high-profile Hollywood couple – Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber – announced that they are splitting.
Watts and Schreiber, who have been in a relationship since 2005, announced on Monday that they are splitting after 11-years. In a joint statement, the couple said that they look forward to raising their children and explore the new phase of their relationship.
"The best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship," Watts and Schreiber said in a statement asking for privacy for their two young sons.
Watts and Schreiber have been together since 2005, but never got married. Their breakup hasn't affected their professional lives and Watts and Schreiber will be seen sharing screen-space in upcoming boxing drama The Bleeder.
Watts and Schreiber follow the footsteps of Hollywood power couple Pitt and Jolie, who shocked the world with their divorce announcement. Jolie, who got married to Pitt in August 2014, filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." "She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," Jolie's lawyer said in a statement.
