Yesteryear actress and MP Jaya Bachchan, taking a cue from her megastar husband Amitabh Bachchan, is likely to make her television debut soon.
If all goes well, Jaya would star in a fiction show which will be a home production, co-produced by Endemol.
According to reports, the actress is likely to play the lead in the show which is said to air on Sony Entertainment Channel next year. The content and show timings of the show are still under wraps.
"While the shooting for Big B's show is on, Jayaji's show is at a nascent stage. It's yet to be decided whether it will be a daily or a weekly one. The show is not a typical saas-bahu drama and she will be seen as a strong personality. The channel and the production house are fiercely guarded about the project," The Times of India quoted a source as saying.
Jaya has been associated with television for years. She has produced the famous sitcoms of 90s "Dekh Bhai Dekh" via Saraswati Audio Visuals Pvt Ltd which has now merged with AB corp.
Amitabh is also featuring in Anurag Kashyap's fiction television show. His as well as Jaya's shows are co-produced by Endemol and will air on Sony Television.
"The idea really is to do something out and away from the groove, with great production values and to make it more finite and watchable. It is another first for me and I look towards it with great anticipation, and apprehension, as we do mostly whenever something new needs to be initiated," Big B wrote on his blog.
