Anirudh Ravichander, whose Agnyaathavaasi album hits the stores on Tuesday, December 19, seems to be on a roll. The youth sensation, who has been working on big-banner films one after the other, has now bagged one more biggie! Well, the music director has been reportedly signed to score music for none other than Shankar's Indian 2.
There were reports earlier that Anirudh Ravichander had been brought in to score music for Indian 2. But later it turned out that he had not taken up this flick. Now, it has been confirmed that he has given nod for the Shankar-directorial.
It is reported that AR Rahman, who was in talks with the makers, could not take up due to his other commitments. The two-time Oscar Award winner has a few big movies in his kitty that include a Mani Ratnam movie and Vijay's upcoming flick. So, he opted out of the project.
Hence, Shankar approached Anirudh, who is believed to have turned down a few big movies in order to work in Indian 2.
Meanwhile, Telugu producer Dil Raju, who was supposed to bankroll Indian 2, has opted out of the project. Rumours claim that the producer was not willing to associate with the project due to the high remunerations quoted by the cast and some of the crew members.
As a result, Lyca Productions, which has been picking up low budget movies and producing biggies that include Rajinikanth's 2.0 in the last few years, has decided to fund the mega-budget film.
The forthcoming movie is a sequel to Indian, which saw Kamal Haasan in a double role -- father and son. Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar played the female lead roles in the flick. In the film, an old man (Kamal) gets frustrated, witnessing the corruption prevalent in the country and decides to uproot it from the system.
He takes the law into his own hands and kills the corrupt. The story takes a shocking turn when his son, played by Kamal himself, is found corrupt.
The first instalment was produced by AM Rathnam.
