Two gunmen strapped with suicide bombing explosives were stopped from launching a major terror attack at a Kabul restaurant on Thursday, but they reportedly killed at least two people before they were shot dead by the security forces.
The militants -- armed with guns, hand grenades and other explosives -- targeted the Kolbah Solh Restaurant in western Kabul on Thursday night.
As soon as the gunmen opened fire at the Kabul restaurant, they were shot dead by Afghan intelligence operatives, according to Khaama Press.
However, a guest at the restaurant and the security guard had been killed in the gunfire, Tolo News reported.
No group has claimed responsibility yet, but the Taliban has been carrying out deadly attacks in Kabul and other regions in Afghanistan over recent months.
Afghanistan's intelligence agency, National Directorate of Security, recently foiled a terror plan at the compound of the Ministry of Defense in Kabul, Afghan media reported.
