Five children were killed in Afghanistan's Helmand province after an abandoned rocket they were playing with exploded. The children reportedly found the old rocket in the Loy Manda area on Wednesday and began playing with it, reports said.
The device, however, soon exploded, killing them instantly, Afghanistan's Khaama Press reported, citing the local police chief.
Afghanistan has been littered with old explosives and devices dating back to the Soviet invasions, the Taliban rule and the US invasion.
The newspaper reported that hundreds of children in the country have lost their lives due to abandoned explosives.
Taliban is once again getting a hold in the Helmand province in Afghanistan, according to TOLO News.
