Among a mélange of characters who seem to be driven by their passion, Helen (Maura Tierney) is the only one who seems to stand out. Noah Solloway's ex-wife did suffer from deep pathos when Alison and Noah got engaged, but she seems to have held her own. In the upcoming episode of "The Affair," her level-headedness will be blessed with a love life that's not riddled with lies, and one that's different from her marriage with Noah.
In the promo for season 2, episode 9, Helen seems interested in someone new: Vic (Omar Metwally). However, she still seems hesitant and refuses to give her phone number to a very persistent Vic.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Metwally will appear in a few episodes in season 2, and we might just see Helen finding love again.
The latest episode will also depict Noah and Alison's stormy relationship. While Noah gloats over the success of his book, Alison is alienated from her family and lonely in New York. In the promo, Alison is all by herself at home, goes into labour and is at the hospital all by herself.
Meanwhile Noah is at a party, cosying up to another woman. This wouldn't be the first time he's cheated on his fiancée though. In episode 8, the New York based writer hooked up with his publicist, Eden (Brooke Lyons). It certainly feels like the two characters have started to live two different lives. However, will Noah continue to be with Alison even though he seems bored of the monotony of their lives? After all, this boredom impelled him to cheat on his wife Helen in Montauk.
Episode 9's synopsis reads:
Alison weathers a momentous journey alone; Helen receives unexpected attention from a sexy but exasperating source [and] Noah faces a terrible reckoning." Fans will also see Cole (Joshua Jackson) "pushed to the edge by an array of challenges.
"The Affair" season 2 episode 9 airs on Sunday, 29 November at 10pm on Showtime.
