Reports of Karan Johar signing Saif Ali Khan for his directorial film "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" have been doing the rounds for a while, but the actor has now rubbished this news.
Deccan Chronicle reported that KJo has roped in Saif for his next film which features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
According to the daily, Saif liked the script and agreed to do the film a few months back. The daily also reported that the "Happy Ending" actor and "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" director will discuss the shooting schedule soon.
"The film was offered to Saif a few months back. Karan met him and narrated the story. Saif, at that time, was also going through other scripts and was evaluating his options. Karan's love story caught his attention and after a while he got back to Karan saying he has liked it," Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.
However, dismissing all the reports Saif told Hindustan Times that the news is not true at all.
"It's not true at all. I haven't even been asked to be part of the film," he told HT.
KJo's directorial film, starring Ranbir, Anushka and Aishwarya Rai, will go on floors by mid-2015. The love story features "Bombay Velvet" co-stars as the lead pair.
The makers of the film recently made an announcement about "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", star casts, shooting location and release date.
"Here's the big news! @karanjohar to direct Aishwarya, Ranbir and Anushka in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. To be released on June 3, 2016," the production house tweeted.
"The film is slated to release on June 3, 2016. #AeDilHaiMushkil, Music for the film to be given by Pritam #AeDilHaiMushkil" the tweet read.
This is for the first time Karan will be directing Ranbir, Anushka and Aishwarya Rai.
